IMPAX Monitor Troubleshooting
This page lists some common problems and solutions for our products. Many monitor problems can be solved immediately, without requiring service visit.

IMPAX Monitor Troubleshooting:

- Monitor does not turn on.
- Check that the monitor is plugged in and turned on.
- Display or lights do not activate.
- Check the rear panel fuses.
- Green light will not come on when button is pushed.
- Check that production quantity is set, and that tolerances are set. Check if job totals are completed. Check that light isn't burned out.
- Yellow light will not go off, although yellow and green have been on together for hundreds of parts. (Learning mode)
- Force measurements may be erratic. Check force display, and check setup.
- After yellow and green are on together, yellow goes off but quickly changes to red.
- Tolerance is too tight for the job, or job is not steady enough for tolerance selected. Check setup, check forces, and check tolerance.
- Monitor stops header repeatedly, but no problem is found with parts made.
- Tolerance is too tight for job, or force measurements are changing. Check tooling, header, and material uniformity. Run header; observe forces and parts produced. Check for loose tooling.
- Monitor fails to stop header when problems occur: smashups, breakage, dropped parts. Green light stays on.
- Tolerance is set too wide or set to zero. Enter lower tolerance number. Check that supervisor's key is not in the bypass position.
- Green light goes off, "RPM+" or "RPM-" appears on the display.
- Running speed of header is changing. Check header, and check monitor machine position sensors.
- Green light is on and header is running, but monitor does not count.
- Check position senor, wires, and rear panel fuses.
- Monitor counts parts, but force measurement numbers are zero for one or more channels.
- Check force sensors and wires.

IMPAX TSS Monitor Troubleshooting:

- Cause / Solution
- Monitor does not turn on.
- Check that the monitor is plugged in and turned on.
- Monitor has power, but screen does not turn on.
- Check screen for damage due to impact. Check for recent power surges - screen may be damaged.
- Screen does not update and displays "PLC Communication Timeout" at top of screen.
- Check for recent power surges - PLC may be damaged. Check connection between screen and PLC.
- Screen says "No User Program" or "No Startup Screen."
- Check for recent power surges - screen may be damaged.
- Monitor does not count parts.
- Check sensor and sensor wires. Set order quantity to a number greater than zero to see parts being counted.
- Monitor does not record counts, uptime, or downtime in the right shift or day.
- Check monitor's current time/date to see if it's correct. Check machine schedule in setup menu. Ensure monitor is on through each shift (is not turned on in the middle of a shift).
- Monitor does not go into downtime mode.
- Check that machine is fully stopped. Check sensor and sensor wires. Check that monitor not already in downtime - go to Data menu and look for "Back to Downtime Reasons" button. Check that system setting "Downtime Delay Value" is not set too high.
- Monitor will not come out of downtime mode.
- Check that machine is fully running. Check sensor and sensor wires. Check that sensor is positioned to correctly sense machine.
- Monitor does not stop machine when entering downtime mode.
- Check that monitor is in downtime mode and no downtime reason has been pushed. Check wiring to machine.

IMPAX TSS Networking Troubleshooting:

- Cause / Solution
- Excel error: "Remote data not accessible..."
- Check whether DSDataServer is running correctly. Close Excel, close and restart the data server, and then reopen the Excel workbook.
- Excel error: data shows up as "#N/A" for more than 30 seconds.
- Check whether DSDataServer is running correctly. Close Excel, close and restart the data server, and then re-open the Excel workbook. Also ensure TSS monitors are on and connected to network. Also check that the network is functioning and whether configuration changes have been made by network staff.
- Excel error: buttons do not work.
- Ensure macros are enabled in Excel. Select Tools: Macro: Security, set the security level to Medium, then close and re-open the Excel workbook.
- Excel error: historical data collection has missing dates.
- Ensure that the computer responsible for recording data is on, and that DSDataServer and Excel are run at least once a day to collect machine data. Also check that the computer is communicating with the TSS monitors correctly.
