Sensors

A variety of sensors are available for use with IMPAX monitors, allowing the monitoring of a variety of machine processes. Here is a summary of various sensor types. Not all sensors may be available or compatible for use with each type of monitor.

Force Sensors Acoustic Sensors
Superflex force sensors and Acouflex acoustic sensors
Superflex Superflex sensors are piezoelectric sensor probes that can measure force or pressure. They have a robust solid-state design, and high sensitivity and resolution. (See the printable Superflex Data Sheet, 47KB PDF)
Force Sensors General piezoelectric force sensor probes are also available. These can also measure force or pressure, and have a very robust design. (See the printable SensorPac Data Sheet, 236KB PDF)
Axflex Axflex axial force sensors offer the same sensitivity and durability as Superflex sensors. Their piezoelectric design can measure axial pressures and tensions. (See the printable Axflex Data Sheet, 59KB PDF)
Acouflex Acoutronic®/Acouflex are acoustic emission sensors that can detect the different frequencies caused by working or damaged tools.
Distance Sensors Distance sensors are magnetic-inductive distance sensors that can be used to detect the proximity of a metal part.
Optical Sensors Optical sensors can be used to detect if a material is present or absent. These sensors are useful for feed control and part ejection.
Motor Load Sensors Motor load sensors are useful for measuring a machine by monitoring the load on the motor, and how it changes with time.
Strain Sensors Strain sensors can be used to detect frame movement.
Short-Feed Sensors Short-feed sensors are force sensors embedded in a material feeding mechanism to detect short-feeds or mis-feeds.
Focal Point Sensors These sensors use narrow-beam fiber optics to measure differences in surface height.
Press Load Sensors These sensors monitor the load applied by metal stamping machines. (See the printable Press Load Sensor Data Sheet, 80KB PDF)
Sensor Plates Adapted sensor plates are designed for sensitive in-die force monitoring. (See the printable Intelliplate Data Sheet, 52KB PDF)
Amplifiers Amplifiers are available to boost small sensor signals to more readable levels.

Other sensors may be available upon request. Not all sensors may be available or compatible for use with each type of monitor. Please contact us for more information.
